Hello everyone! Marshall here and hope you all had a great weekend. This past week HackerPen has made great progress, largely thanks to the participation from the community!
Within 2 months of launching HackerPen has more than 200 users on the platform (40+ users signed up the last week alone)! I’m super grateful for all the support from the community, and I am excited to keep iterating on this product with the community.
In this post we will talk about:
- recap on the open product design
- features update
recap on the open product design
Last Saturday we had our first-ever open product design session and we are humbled to have learned so much from the community! We discussed ways to improve the product, and how the product can help bring many gaps we experience in technical interviews.
If you are interested in learning more, Atith has put together public notes from the session.
Our commitment going forward:
- Iterate fast based on community feedback. We will do our best to integrate feedback and our vision to drive the product forwards. We will be selective on how to build, but our bias is to iterate fast and stay focused on what to build.
- Host recurring product design workshops. Right now, we are thinking about doing this monthly, the goal is to optimize for community participation, we want to build this product together with the community, and have fun doing it.
feature updates
Based on community feedback, we made two improvements on the platform:
- System design drawings
- Interview cancellation
System Design Components
Now each drawing board comes with a set of default icons that helps with system design questions. This helps cut down the unnecessary time of drawing and give time back for people to communicate their design thinking.
Interview Cancellation
We embed the cancellation link in the emails. This made it more obvious to users when they want to cancel an interview and give time back to the other party.
